Monaco ePrix: Vergne becomes first double winner of season five

Jean-Eric Vergne has become the first driver to win twice in the 2018/19 Formula E season, as he took the chequered flag in Monaco.

The Techeetah driver started from pole position and came under early pressure from Pascal Wehrlein, but the former Manor and Sauber F1 driver locked up at Turn 1 and dropped back a number of positions.

Vergne's teammate Andre Lotterer made up positions at the start, as he attempted to recover from a difficult qualifying that saw him start at the back of the field.

Vergne takes over the lead in the championship, with Lotterer second, as the former managed to pass his way up to ninth place.

Oliver Rowland, who was fastest in qualifying but dropped to P4 after the session due to a penalty he picked up in Paris, secured a podium for Nissan e.dams.

Felipe Massa took his first podium finish in Formula E, crossing the line in third place. 

After recovering from his spin, Pascal Wehrlein managed to end the race in fourth place, ahead of Sebastian Buemi and Antonio Felix da Costa. 

Mitch Evans was sixth for Jaguar, ahead of Daniel Abt. Abt's teammate Lucas di Grassi retired from the race after he made contact with a fellow competitor midway through the race.

Lotterer was ninth, while Alex Lynn rounded out the top ten.
