Giedo Van der Garde, who tested for the Caterham F1 Team in Jerez earlier this month, wants to combine his role as F1 Reserve Driver with racing the GP2 championship with Caterham Racing Team.
McGregor driver Van der Garde is ready to complete six official pre-season GP2 test days in Spain before the season begins in Malaysia on 23-25th March.
Team CEO Nino Judge and Caterham Racing Team Manager Phil Spencer are expected to announce their final GP2 drivers line up later today.
Giedo Van der Garde: "The combination of testing and developing with the Caterham F1 Team and racing GP2 with the same team is ideal for me. This means that I will go to all the Formula One races, and racing a full GP2 season too which keeps me sharp. Now we must make sure we are well prepared for testing and consistently score points throughout the season. I am very happy to gain F1 experience and race GP2 with the Caterham Racing Team at the same time. I want to race and look forward to a full agenda."
