Antonio Giovinazzi continued to impress at Malaysia after placing his car on the front row of the grid behind his team-mate Pierre Gasly.

But the FIA Formula Three European champion feels that he could of taken pole position if it wasn't for the late spin of Nobuharu Matsushita.

"I knew I could improve on some corners but then during my first push-lap there was a red flag due to Mitch Evans and then on my second try there was a yellow flag in the final sector due to Nobuharu Matsushita so I couldn’t improve," he said. "But again, it’s good for PREMA Racing."

"I'm a bit disappointed to have lost the four points of pole position for the standings but we can still do a really good race from P2 tomorrow<" he continued. "I drove here before with Formula Abart in 2012 so I know the track. But with the new surface, it’s quite different."

The Italian knows that a good start is vital for any chance at taking a victory in tomorrow's race and also states that strategy will play its part.

"First, we need to make a good start and then to come up with the good strategy," he said. "The race will be hard but we know that we have a good pace. I think we will have a good fight."
