Juan Pablo Montoya is not worried about his future, despite enduring a somewhat difficult season in what is a contract year for him
Just like in 2015 the former Formula One and NASCAR race winner triumphed in the opening race in St Petersburg, but since then he has struggled to obtain good results, while team mates Simon Pagenaud, Will Power, and Helio Castroneves are all in the championship hunt. Montoya is only twelfth.
"It's just part of racing," the Colombian said. "You have good and bad years and this is just a bad year. What do you do against blown engines or ill-timed safety car periods? For example, look at how quick I was in Iowa before that damned engine blew up. Or Detroit, I was fast enough to win the race, but I finished third. For the second race we chose just the wrong strategy and that was it. "
"If I did not push I would not catch more people than anyone else. If I did not push, I would not be as fast as I am now," he insisted. "I still love of racing and I'm really happy with where I am. Am I worried? No, I'm still fast. It's just the same bad luck that always comes our way."
