AJ Foyt Racing are set to confirm a switch to Chevrolet engines and aerokits for the 2017 IndyCar season.

The revelation comes after Chip Ganassi Racing announced they would be leaving the Bow Tie for Honda. Now RACER have confirmed that AJ Foyt's eponymous organisation will go in the opposite direction, although a contract is yet to be signed.

"Yeah, I think we're going back with 'em," Foyt told the American publication this week. "I've had a lot of good memories with Chevrolet."

The move leaves the future of former-Formula One driver Takuma Sato uncertain. Sato has driven Honda powered cars in every year he has competed in not only IndyCar, but F1 too. AJ Foyt Racing's switch to Chevrolet power for 2017 seemingly signals an end to their four year relationship.

The Japanese driver is being linked with moves to Honda-powered Andretti Autosport or Dale Coyne Racing.

Sato's team mate Jack Hawksworth is also facing an uncertain future, with Foyt currently in talks with a number of drivers for 2017.

"We're talking to four or five drivers and some engineers, just waiting to get our engine contract done, and then go form there," said team president Larry Foyt. "IndyCar is such a tight field and everyone gets better ever year so we need to take a bigger step than everyone else."
