26 year old Briton Lewis Williamson will complete the World Endurance Championship season with Strakka Racing, the team have confirmed.
The former GP3 driver made his debut in the last race at Nurburgring and will now compete alongside Jonny Kane and Nick Leventis. Strakka team principal Dan Walmsley was impressed by his performance, despite the lack of experience that Williamson had.
"Lewis' fine performance left us with a difficult decision for the rest of the season. Before Nurburgring, Lewis had done no testing and had driven the car for just six laps in Bahrain [at the WEC rookie test] last year."
"That underlined his potential and we'd like to see more of him as plans evolve for 2017."
Williamson himself is amazed at the decision to keep him on and admits that it "still hasn't sunk in" that he will be driving the car again.
The next round of the World Endurance Championship will take place at Mexico, at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit.
