Santino Ferrucci has spoken of the vast responsibility placed on him by Haas F1 Team prior to his first drive in a Grand Prix car today.
The American, currently competing in GP3, will drive for the team over both days of the final in-season test at Silverstone.
"They know I can drive," he said. "I'm going to be helping on the development side, with a lot of aero testing, things on set-up to help the team in the forthcoming races."
"It is quite a big responsibility and they've given me quite a lot to study before I get in the car."
Despite Ferrucci's career in single seaters, his associating with the team comes from driver Tony Stewart, who co-owns a NASCAR operation with Gene Haas.
"I hadn't met Gene until earlier this year, but Tony's been really good to me," said Ferrucci. "He's been a really big supporter and he's brought me to NASCAR races with Stewart-Haas Racing."
