Alex Lynn has said that Williams' interest in fellow Brit Jenson Button gives him hope for a seat at the team in 2017.
Button has continuously been linked with Williams all season and the Grove-based team has stated that they would be interested in providing a race seat for him. However, they are unwilling to wait around too long for Button to make a decision.
GP2 driver Alex Lynn believes that if Button choses to not occupy the race seat at Williams for next year, it would bode well for his own chances.
“The thing is for me I’ve been working with this team for two years now and they all know what I’m like. I know these guys personally very well, we’re mates, and they also know how hard I work and how much I want it. That for me is a really big thing.
“They know what I can do in the car, I’ve worked really hard in the sim and believe I have helped in a lot of ways, and I get on really well with the guys. So I’d like to think if it came to it they would say ‘yeah, we believe in Alex’."
Lynn currently sits ninth in the driver standings in GP2 and has confirmed previously that this will be his final year competing in the series.
