Nyck de Vries is fully expecting to become the next youngster to graduate to Formula One with McLaren.
The 21-year-old Dutchman, said recently that he hopes Stoffel Vandoorne's graduation to a race seat will mean he is now next in line.
"At the moment there are no seats free,"De Vries told the Dutch publication Helden. "Next year Stoffel Vandoorne makes his début so I have to wait for my chance, but it's a matter of time I think."
"If I keep performing well, my chance will come," added the GP3 front runner. "(Fernando) Alonso's contract expires late next year -- perhaps there is space, we'll see."
McLaren has made a reputation of giving highly-rated young drivers their F1 breaks in the last decade, with Lewis Hamilton, Kevin Magnussen, and Stoffel Vandoorne all making their débuts with the Woking team.
