Rio Haryanto is confident he will be able to make a return to the Formula One grid next year.
The Indonesian lost his race seat at Manor over the summer break after half of his promised funds failed to materialise. He was replaced by Esteban Ocon and took the role of reserve driver instead.
However, he has now revealed that work has been ongoing to find new backers that will allow him to return to the grid in 2017.
"We’ve been working very hard to find sponsors," he told Fox Sports.
"We’ve been looking at possibilities for the teams in Formula One, I think things are looking positive, looking good. In the next couple of weeks there will be lots of announcements for [other] drivers [and] teams, hopefully you guys can hear from me soon."
Despite only completing half a season, Haryanto believes he showed well alongside his highly-rated point scoring team mate Pascal Wehrlein.
"I’ve shown a good job in my first year in Formula One," he continued
"I’ve been competitive against my team-mate who is I guess the star of Mercedes in the future. So I think I’ve shown my performance [level] and I really want to get back here next year, hopefully a decision can be made soon."
