Nico Rosberg believes Carlos Sainz deserves a "good car" because he is just as good as former Toro Rosso team mate Max Verstappen.

Verstappen got called up to Red Bull's senior team, where he has gone on to take a win and multiple podiums, while Sainz has been left at the engergy drink firm's 'B' team.

"He is very good, very strong, but the situation is difficult for him because he was not given the good car to drive like Verstappen was," said championship leader Rosberg.

"But when they were together Sainz did very well and they were very similar. I think they are as good as one another and I am convinced that he (Sainz) will also be one of the good drivers of the future," he added.

  • I don't fully agree.
Torro Rosso stated that after the exit of Verstappen the team lost the drive to keep up the performance. Max gave the team something extra which Sainz doesn't. Carlos is a great driver, but to become really grest you must be able to push the team forward. He can't manage that at this time

Nor ever has. In the original interview he stated that the three races right after the departure of Verstappen were the best races of his entire life and were intended to show the world what a great driver he is... Need I say more? The world was in awe so there was no need for him to continue. Still isn't probably.
