Former Sauber technical director Jorg Zander will return to the team following Audi's exit from the World Endurance Championship.
The German worked for the team during its BMW days, and has also enjoyed spells with Williams, Honda and Brawn GP.
Zander will head Sauber's technical team, as they look to find their feet once again following the buyout of the team earlier this year.
Zander's former employers Audi, meanwhile, will continue to use Sauber's state-of-the-art wind tunnel.
The German marque used the Swiss team's facility to develop their successful run of LMP1 racers, but will continue to work at Hinwil to develop their DTM and Formula E cars.
