Williams: "Paddy Lowe would be a fantastic addition"

Claire Williams has stated that she and the team are immensely interested in signing Paddy Lowe after the Briton left Mercedes.

The chances of the deal going ahead look promising after Pat Symonds decided to depart Williams at the end of last season.

“For us the two are separate. We obviously need a technical director now that Pat Symonds has departed the team that will come in and put us back to where our ambitions lie at Williams and that is to win races and world championships,” she said.

Williams also stated that Lowe's success at Mercedes makes him a much more attractive option for progressing forward.

“Of course someone like Paddy now that he is available is going to be appealing to us. He has driven that team to three world championship titles in three consecutive years."

"Of course he would be someone who has at the top of his list, he would be a fantastic addition. He started his career at Williams and what team wouldn’t want someone like Paddy Lowe.”

I'd love him at McLaren. Williams thereafter

    • One man is not the key to every problem. Ferrari are a prime example of this, they recycled through plenty of top names with little progress. That's not the fault of said top names, it is the fault with the rest of the structure in place over which the said top name has little to no influence over. Several of Ferrari's former top engineers who got the boot later went to other teams and shined.

Mclaren is having the same issues as Ferrari, rots from the inside from somewhere deep. My bet that the rot is at the core of the stakeholders so good luck to whoever' trying to make them budge.
