Nico Rosberg wanted Alonso to replace him

Nico Rosberg has admitted that he would have liked to have seen Fernando Alonso replace him at Mercedes, as he thinks there would be war between the Spaniard and Lewis Hamilton.

Rosberg shocked the F1 community five days after winning the drivers world championship when he announced that he would be retiring from the sport. A search began at Mercedes for his replacement with many drivers linked before they settled for Williams' Valtteri Bottas.

When asked who he would've liked to have seen take his place, Rosberg answered: “OK, because I'm now a fan, and on that side of the fence, it's very easy to respond. Everyone says Alonso and I say it too, because there would be fireworks with Hamilton!

"As a fan, it would be nice, but for the team, it wouldn't work. They've found a great solution. Bottas is fast and though Hamilton will be at a very, very high level and it will be difficult to beat him, I have proved that he can.”

Rosberg thinks that Bottas can indeed challenge Hamilton next season, stating: “I have him on pole in the first race in Australia!”

The German has previously announced that he would be watching the Australian Grand Prix at home on the television but will take a trip to "five or six" of the Grands Prix throughout the year.

  • War? Nope it would be a slaughter by Alonso, the peasant turdboy will be unable to let out as much as a squeal while Alonso smashes its puny head to a pulp on the way to his wins.

    • You forget that Ham-Ham still has a unique advantage: he can do basically anything without being reprimanded by anything or anyone. Worst case scenario, he could probably wage a literal war against his team mate with severe collateral damage, including allowing Maldonado to pilot a nuclear warhead, without any reprecussions.

    • Oh yeah very well aware of what Hmailton can do, that is cry the race card like when Alonso whoop his butt proper turdyboy cried that's because he was black he was not able to do well. Lol wut? It's like those libtards everywhere the moment they lose an argument they will pull out the race card. That is a racist act in an of itself. The biggest racist in F1 is Hamilton bar none.

Sure he will pull those moves, maybe he will even cry Bottas is too much of a white boyee or something, wouldn't be surprised one bit.
