Sauber reportedly desire Charles Leclerc to race for them in Melbourne, filling in for the injured Pascal Wehrlein despite hiring Italian Antonio Giovinazzi for the first week of testing.
Wehrlein injured himself during the Race of Champions, and it will be determined today whether or not he is ready for a comeback. He injured his neck, but despite claiming he felt no pain, he was sidelined for the first week of testing.
Giovinzzi filled in for the first week of testing, but there are reports the Sauber have already begun discussions with 2016 GP3 champion Leclerc over a race seat in Melbourne.
