New Haas F1 driver Kevin Magnussen says that he will not be going out of his way to become best friends with his new team mate Romain Grosjean.
There have been recent reports suggesting that Dane Magnussen has been a little difficult to work with colleagues. Grosjean will become Magnussen's third team mate after Jenson Button and Jolyon Palmer.
"Of course it's important to beat him, as it is important to beat every teammate," Magnussen, 24, told the Danish newspaper BT.
"The relationship so far is as it should be. We must of course be open and work to bring the team forward, but we also have the freedom to race against each other and don't have to be best friends. But that doesn't mean we're against one another: not at all!" Magnussen insisted.
Magnussen has compared his relationship with Frenchman Grosjean to former team mate Jenson Button. It was suggested that Button "helped" Magnussen during their season together, however Magnussen has denied such reports.
"No," Magnussen insisted. "I remember there were many who thought Jenson helped me a lot in 2014, but he didn't do anything specific.
"There are some teammates who deliberately try to f--- you with incorrect information and so on, but Jenson did not and I have great respect for that. I do not know Romain particularly well yet, but I expect that it will be a bit like with Jenson."

Come oooon!!... stop the nonsens "sensation" reporting already.. :o)
Kevin is a Dane with a NO BS pragmatic approach to racing. He is in F1 for racing and winning, not for being a best buddy magazinecover front figure coffee slubbering chihuahuahuahua... :o)
Let him do what he does BEST.... RACE!

I believe the title should be "not going out of his way to befriend Grosjean".
Either way, nobody expect him to try to make friends, they are there to race, but being friendly is a good bonus. I'd honestly much rather have Button as team mate than Grosjean.
