Ricciardo denies 2018 Ferrari move

Daniel Ricciardo has denied that he will be moving to Ferrari for the 2018 season. Silly season seems to be kicking into gear as all the latest driver transfer rumours look set to begin.

Ricciardo is contracted to Red Bull after joining the team in 2014, stepping up from the junior team Toro Rosso. He enjoyed a miraculous first season, taking three wins and overall out-performing his four-time world champion team mate Sebastian Vettel.

Last week, an Italian newspaper claimed the Red Bull driver had even signed some sort of agreement to replace Sebastian Vettel's current teammate Kimi Raikkonen.

But Australian Ricciardo told Italian television Sky: "I heard about it, but it's not true. I haven't signed anything with Ferrari," the 27-year-old insisted in Bahrain.

Raikkonen's future in Formula 1 is in doubt after a disappointing opening two rounds at Melbourne and Shanghai. His contract runs out at the end of this year, as does team mate's Sebastian Vettel's, however, the Maranello-based team is expected to enter negotiations with the German soon.

  • Daniel would be great at Ferrari. But I think the more likely choice would be Romain Gro. I doubt Ferrari want to bring in a driver who would rattle the cage of their lead driver. If they wanted to do that, they would approach Alonso for a 2nd stint in the red car. That would be fun to watch...I'm sure we will hear a dozen other rumors about Kimi's seat in the coming months.

    • Why is everybody so font of Grosjean. He is not steady enough. Ricciardo's contract is ending. If he could go to Ferrari, why not. Especcially as RB can't come thru with their RBR13

    • I also think Grosjean wont be prioritized. He isnt bad, but he just isnt top team material.

I agree with calle, Grosjean is alright, but he's not THAT good.
In terms of Daniel moving to Ferrari - I don't see it. That is unless Vettel makes a move as well. If Vettel extends his contact, I could see them signing a younger driver that could sit under the learning tree, so to speak.
I could also see Ferrari making a play for Verstappen, regardless of Vettels decision.
