Agag wants Ferrari in Formula E

Formula E boss Alejandro Agag has expressed his desire for F1’s most famous team, Ferrari, to join his series. This comes after FIA president Jean Todt had made the suggestion earlier in the week for Ferrari and other F1 teams to join Renault in the all-electric series saying: "I am confident that one day Ferrari will follow suit, and we would like to see that."

Agag has responded to this suggestion saying that: "Ferrari in Formula E is quite possible." He went on to discuss the lack of an Italian presence on the Formula E grid saying: "I see 20 drivers but no Italian flags, I already know that every young Italian dreams only of Ferrari, but I'm sure that sooner or later we will have a driver from Italy. Or an Italian brand."

Then asked if Ferrari fit that bill he said: "This is quite possible. We already have Renault, Audi, Jaguar, BMW are ready to enter, other car manufacturers like Mercedes think seriously about us.

"Three years ago, nobody could have imagined that. In Italy there are Fiat, Maserati, Alfa Romeo. I read that Marchionne is always speaking of Alfa Romeo's return. We would welcome them with open arms."

Agag was seriously rumoured to be heading to a role in Formula 1 last year when Liberty Media took over the sport but he insisted: "I feel very comfortable in Formula E. We are in the third year. It's a great signal that Jaguar is coming. We are looking at new races in Hong Kong, New York, Montreal and Marrakech. We want to grow and thrive -- I have a lot to do here."

Do they have a F2,F3 team ? No they do not. Whats in it for Ferrari? This is a comment that deserves no coverage. Indy Car would love ferrari to field a team too.

    • The difference could be that Ferrari mostly are in series in which they can develope their own engines and such. In Indy Car we currently only have 2 engines, and the feeder series also have scarce options for engines as it stands. Thus, FE could cater more to Ferrari, even if I doubt they will enter, at least not in the near future.

I don't really see the upside for Ferrari to enter FE at this point anyway. I have really tried to get into it, but the races are beyond boring, and not spectacular in any way shape or form.
I could perhaps see them enter using the Fiat brand (should they focus more on electric cars) and mayyybe even Alfa. But Ferrari, no...
