Ricciardo would prefer to halt the 'shoey' celebration

Daniel Ricciardo has revealed that his famous celebration, the 'shoey' may well be scrapped for the future. The Aussie, to the disgust of the fellow podium finishers, pours champagne into his race boot and takes a drink from it.

While it has become synonymous with the victories and success of Ricciardo, he could be set to get rid of the celebration. Speaking to ESPN F1, the Red Bull driver said: "I don't know, I mean [Lance] Stroll didn't look too impressed with the shoey but I'm sure he enjoyed being a part of it," Ricciardo laughed.

"He spat most of it out! When I did it, I didn't expect it to continue as it has. Part of me feels like, 'I've done it now'. Will we see it again? Who knows. It's kind of a spur of the moment thing but it's been good fun and for sure, I would encourage others to come up with different celebrations, it's nice being a bit unique."

It was fun as a one time thing, but it already feels a bit forced and old now, so I wouldn't mind seeing it go away...
