Austrian DTM racer Lucas Auer is set to make his Formula 1 debut for Force India later this year at the Hungaroring in an in-season test following the Hungarian Grand Prix. This is according to the driver's uncle, F1 legend Gerhard Berger.
"As it turns out, he will get a Formula 1 test in the Force India in the young driver test," said Berger when talking to Bild newspaper. "I think two years ago, he would have been burned, but now he deserves his chance. Whether he uses it is another matter," the former McLaren and Ferrari driver added, confirming that his nephew is ready to race in F1.
Contrasting his uncle's word, Auer said that "Nothing has been confirmed yet," last weekend at the DTM race at Norisring but did confirm that he was in talks with a number of teams for the test. The 22-year-old currently competes in the DTM for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, and shares a mutual sponsor with Force India in BWT, explaining why the Silverstone-based team are the logical and clear choice for Auer's in-season test in Hungary.

he´s quite unlucky to live and get the chance now.
There is Ocon and Wehrlein for the top seat at Merc.
Concerning Ferrari there is Giovinazzi and for example Grosjean and both of the Red Bull guys who are desperate for the seat.
Red Bull still have Sainz, Gasly and Kvyat and probably many more i don´t know..
So i think he must be an outstanding and perfect driver in order to catch a drive in F1. Even Alonso isn´t able to get a top seat so...
