Felipe Massa could be set to stay at Williams for the 2018 season, as the team is very happy with his performances so far this year. The Brazilian announced his retirement last year and was not scheduled to race this season.
However, in light of Nico Rosberg's sudden retirement, Massa was drafted back in as the British team let Valtteri Bottas leave to be the world champion's replacement at Mercedes. Deputy team principal Claire Williams said that a contract could be on the cards.
"I see no reason why not," she said when asked if he could stay on for next year. "We are fortunate that Felipe decided to interrupt his retirement and return to the team, and this year he is working very well, scoring points and helping Lance (Stroll).
"Also with his experience, he has been very effective in discussing with Paddy Lowe how to improve the car. So if we talk about next year, firstly it will be his decision if he feels sufficiently motivated to continue," Williams added.
