Kubica completes Renault test at Paul Ricard

Robert Kubica has completed his second Formula 1 test for Renault since his career ending injury in 2011. Testing the 2012 E20, Kubica reportedly completed 90 "trouble-free laps" laps around the Paul Ricard Circuit in France on Wednesday.

Kubica previously completed a private test for Renault last month in June around the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, where completed 115 laps of running, and also drove a Formula 1 car in public at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

This test at Paul Ricard was performed "to assess his capabilities to return to the highest level of competition," according to Cyril Abiteboul, Renault's Managing Director. Due to Jolyon Palmer's slow start to 2017, Kubica is one of the many names associated with a seat at Renault for 2018, and could get a chance of testing the team's 2017 car as Renault has not yet confirmed its driver line-up for next month's in-season test in Hungary.

There was a good point raised about his super license on Sky questioning exactly how he would be able to gain appropriate points.

  • If he can REALLY make it back for 2018, however slim a chance that maybe, it would be good for the sport.

Jolyon Palmer could become test driver much sooner...
if Kubica tests at Hungary, it will be at Palmer's expense since he can't be "young driver"

Doubt that he'll race in F1 again, The risk might be too much to take for Renault, FIA & F1 (Liberty), if he crashes and something bad happens, the Lawsuits could be massive...
Feel good story, but i doubt it very much...
I am surprised that Renault is investing so much with the testing and all, prolly worth it as a PR move and to put pressure on any other driver they might be looking at for Palmer's seat....

    • What Lawsuits?! What are you even on about? F1 always was, is and will be a dangerous sport. Drivers have died even in the last few years, hasn't stopped racing, teams from hiring drivers etc.

Looking at your country flag it figures, Americans only know about suing for every little thing.
