Lewis Hamilton's rivals have questioned his absence from this week's F1 Live in London event, and do not understand why he decided to to skip the demonstration. With Hamilton not there, only 19 of the 20 drivers on the current F1 grid were at the event, and when Hamilton arrived at Silverstone for his home race, the British driver defended his decision.
Other drivers on the grid however, questioned Hamilton's decision. One such driver was Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who recalled a similar demonstration in his home nation: "If I had tried to do that (stay away), I think they would have shot me!"
McLaren's Stoffel Vandoorne also criticised Hamilton: "I don't understand why Lewis was not there," said the Belgian when speaking to La Derniere Heure. "He is a triple world champion, he's British, but I cannot imagine if such an event was organised in Belgium on the eve of our grand prix that I would not go."
Felipe Massa was also vocal about Hamilton's decision, and said that he could not skip a demonstration event at his home nation of Brazil. "I think Lewis is the first to lose by not being there," he said.
On the other hand, one driver who remained unfazed by Hamilton missing F1 Live in London was Kimi Raikkonen. "I don't care to be honest," said the Ferrari driver when speaking to Sky Sports.

The day he retires will be a happy day!
I still hate the fact that he had found himself in a rocketship for so many seasons that he is breaking some of Senna's and Schumacher's records.
Exactly! This guy is completely spoiled.
He has been great to watch on track. One of my favorites ever. He is, however, a massive douche off-track. Unbearable to listen to.
Every other driver being at the event and him swanning off to Mykonos just shows Hamilton to be in really poor form, I was at the event and it was simply stunning, but I can't imagine how many kids were let down by there hero not even bothering to turn up
