Force India has initiated talks with driver Sergio Perez over a new deal that will see the Mexican remain at the team next season. Last year, Perez was heavily linked to a Renault switch, but stayed at Force India with former teammate Nico Hulkenberg transferring to the French outfit.
There are reportedly two other teams looking for Perez's signature for 2018, but Force India team principal Vijay Mallya does not want to see him departing the team: "We have already commenced talks with him for the renewal of his contract," he said. "When I have to take a new driver I like to leave it late, when I returning a driver I like to do it early."
Perez will be allowed to leave for Mercedes or Ferrari
There are currently seats open at front-runners Mercedes and Ferrari next season, however, Mercedes is expected to retain Valtteri Bottas due to his strong string of performances. With Vettel also set to sign at Ferrari, there could be an opportunity for Perez to take up Kimi Raikkonen's place at the team. Mallya doesn't see why Perez would want to move anywhere else but those two title contending marques.
"Checo is a highly talented and experienced driver. There's no question about that and I'm glad Esteban is pushing him. I like to believe that my drivers are happy in this team. We give them a good car to race. If there is a Mercedes or a Ferrari seat, they'll obviously jump at the opportunity.
"I'm not going to stand in there way but other than that I think we have the best car. We give them an atmosphere where they are comfortable, they enjoy the team, their colleagues and they enjoy working together. What's the reason to move?"

Agree with Vijay, he should try to keep both his drivers as long as he can, doog pairing, SP is not only a top driver, but brings sponsorship money....
But I would add Renault to Ferrari to the list of teams Perez should consider, that's if any of the 2 want him, Renault probably will not ask again after he reportedly rejected and offer last season.... Ferrari? doesn't look like that will ever happen....
