Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has offered his praise to Antonio Giovinazzi who is adding to his Formula 1 experience this year. At the start of the season, the Italian stepped in for that injured Pascal Wehrlein at Sauber, impressing at Australia before a somewhat disappointing outing in China
Since then, Haas has announced that Giovinazzi will take part in plenty of FP1 sessions throughout the year, the first coming last time out at the British Grand Prix. Steiner has been impressed by the 2016 GP2 runner-up who will receive more FP1 outings for Haas in the coming year.
"He did a good job but Antonio has been in the car before, he has done races and a lot of tests," he told Crash.net. "He's a solid guy and he's fast. We have seen that last year in GP2. He's a good guy and he's very professional, he's very mature.
"We didn't expect anything strange with him as he's a rookie but he's not a rookie. I don't know how many days pre-season testing he did with Sauber, he did two races for them, he drove the Ferrari quite a bit so he's solid."
