Entering the summer break with 35 points to his name and in the top half of the Drivers' Championship, Carlos Sainz Jr has had an impressive start to 2017 driving for Toro Rosso. His year has not been plain sailing however, with a dispute between himself and Dr Helmut Marko causing tension in the Red Bull camp and a number of on track collisions with Daniil Kvyat damaging his relationship with his team mate.
Amidst all of this drama, the 22 year old Spaniard remains focused and revealed that it is his current target to get a competitive ride in Formula 1 with Red Bull Racing. "Well, it is my one and only target to be a Red Bull driver in the future," said Sainz in an exclusive interview with F1's official website. "That is what I want – and that is what I have said a hundred times before. And if one answer said in the heat of the moment is spinning out of control – that is just 'modern times'!"
Sainz jeopardised his future in the Red Bull driver programme earlier this season at the Austrian Grand Prix where he criticized Red Bull and Toro Rosso in the media. This triggered rumours that the energy drinks giant was going to sever its connections with him and that he would be joining Renault at the Hungarian Grand Prix to replace Jolyon Palmer.
When asked about his dispute, Sainz replied: "Maybe I could have used a different wording to put it. It is not something that I enjoyed, seeing Helmut Marko and Christian Horner going against me, but it sometimes happens in a Formula One career. But it should be over – so turn the page!"
When asked if the dispute was over, he answered plainly: "Well, I think so."

He has done well the first half, but he was also the clown of the F1 in the first half.
The man is mentally not strong enough to become a champion, skills enough, but not the heart.
