With rumours about his future swirling, Pascal Wehrlein says that he can't imagine himself making the switch to Formula E. Wehrlein's 2018 seat with Sauber is in serious doubt as the team recently took up an engine deal with Ferrari which reportedly includes fitting one of its drivers in at Sauber.
With Marcus Ericsson's backers also financing the team, it is highly unlikely that the Swede will depart the Hinwil squad. Wehrlein has been linked with a move back to DTM, where he became champion in 2015, and also to the ever growing electric Formula E series.
"I have scored all five points," the 22-year-old told Bild newspaper, "and in qualifying it is 8:2 for me against Ericsson. What more can I do? I got a message shortly before the announcement as I know some people at HWA," said the German about Mercedes' DTM departure. "I think it's not a simple situation."
As for the move to Formula E, Wehrlein said that the characteristics of the series are not his style, and doesn't ever see a move materialising: "I like noise, performance and fuel. I cannot even imagine racing in Formula E."
Sergio Marchionne, the president of Fiat Chrysler (who own Ferrari) was also talking recently about Formula E: "I have been speaking about Formula E with Toto Wolff, but I cannot imagine Ferrari going straight there. But we are considering entering a brand of the FCA (Fiat Chrysler), although which brand has not yet been determined."

Well, maybe he will after a year watching races on his couch.
if i were him id hunt for an Indy seat. In my opinion Wehrlein is one of the most underestimated drivers on the grid and a victim of Mercedes not having the balls to take a chance. Surely they would be able to put a junior program asset in a better car than current saubers and Manors. Ocon defo got the best deal out of the two (Ocon is the better of the two thought).
If i was him i would hunt for an Indycar seat. Its got the noise, performance and American grandeur and glamour you would want in a racing career. When it comes to FE its a bit like fois gras.....were force feeding and having media try and artificially make it a bigger thing than it is. It says something about a series when a pitstop actually means you're putting a driver in a different car.....
Come on Formula E really is the future, more drivers need to see it as a genuine competitor to F1 in years to come
