Ocon furious with Perez after yet another collision

Esteban Ocon has lashed out at teammate Sergio Perez after the two came together in Belgium. The incident comes after a season of tension between the pair, as it is not the first time both drivers have clashed in the calendar year.

On the opening lap, Ocon was squeezed by Perez into the wall as they approached Eau Rouge. Neither driver came away with severe damage, but that was not the case further on into the race, when they both came together at the same part o the track.

When asked after the race if he thinks Perez knew he was alongside him, Ocon replied: "Of course he knew. "I accept the first one. we are three wide, maybe he didn't see me, even if I think he saw me.

"The second one is just the one too much, risking our life for nothing... he risked my life in there at 300 km/h down by Eau Rouge, that's the first thing. He's supposed to be a professional driver, today he hasn't shown it, he hasn't done that with any other team-mates, I don't know why he's doing it with me."

Perez is only there now because of the money he brings, he's shown his attitude out of the car is bad and in the car he makes mistakes and is dangerous at times, your time is running out, no wonder Ferrari didn't want you.

  • 100% Pérez fault. It makes him look bad on a year where his stock was higher than ever. Hopefully they sort it out.

    • Yeah, the last duel were definitely all on Perez. That move will certainly not make the likes of Ferrari any more likely to hire him.

What a moron Perez is! I think he has cost himself a chance at a top team with the way he's been behaving and his general attitude.

    • I definitely agree on the way he raced here at Spa. Also agree that the way he talk in interviews as of late, a sort of (in lack of better words) "entitled" fashion, will hardly make top teams more likely to hire him. A shame, since he is generally a good driver, but such things matter.

    • Now that's nonsense. It was Pérez fault today. No doubt. It made him look awful. However, he is a too driver. No doubt. Even beating Hulkenberg last year. The money argument is stupid.

Pace isn't the only thing. Perez needs a dose of medicine to counter the red mist.

    • He reminds me a bit of Alonso when Hamilton came. It's gotta be hard to be beaten by a rookie. Hopefully, like Alonso did, he moves on and continues to become even better.

  • Only 1 point on his license. The second collision could have turned out really bad. The man should be banned for 1 race to make a statement.
    Raikkonen gets a 10 second stop-and-go, Perez got nothing. C'mon stewards, you're a joke.

I agree! That's one of my biggest pet peeves - the lack of consistency in the rulings. I really don't care either way how they choose to punish the drivers, as long as it's more or less the same for everybody.

I will fault Perez on this one too, but it was a risky move on Ocon's part, what? they were going to go 2 wide up Eau Rouge? he should have waited and easily could have had him at the straightaway after using DRS... But he was also upset because the team brought Perez in before him and Ocon came out behind him after a couple of fast PER laps and they undercut them selves, so the team has A LOT of the blame in this one.... My 2 cents...
