Pirelli's ultra soft tyres for this weekend's US Grand Prix will have pink sidewalls, in place of the usual purple colour. Formula 1 has linked up with the Susan G. Komen foundation, as the event in Austin takes place during Breast Cancer Awareness month.
There will also be a series of off-track events to raise awareness for the issue and to recognise the partnership between the charity and motorsport's pinnacle. Ultra softs will be used in Austin for the first time, which will inevitably see lap times drop.
Speaking ahead of the weekend, Pirelli chief Mario Isola is indeed expecting to see the lap times falter throughout the weekend: "For America, we're once again taking a softer range of compounds that we have done for previous races there," he said.
"The Ultra Soft will be available in Austin for the first time: but in pink as a one-off, to highlight the brilliant work of the Susan G. Komen foundation. This should bring lap times down, continuing the trend we have seen over the course of the season."
