Fernando Alonso is said to have visited Toyota's HQ in Cologne ahead of what is said to be a rumoured test for the Marque. The test is said to be part of Alonso's larger goal of winning motorsport's unofficial triple crown, with a view to driving for the outfit in the Le Mans 24 hours race.
In the wake of McLaren and Alonso's unsuccessful stint with Honda engines, Alonso has been afforded other opportunities outside of F1. This started with his attempt of the Indy 500 race earlier this year, where he impressed in his first run in the series before ultimately retiring. Alonso is next scheduled to take part in the Daytona 24 hours for Zak Brown's United Autosports team in January alongside McLaren junior driver Lando Norris.
However with Le Mans Alonso's other true goal he would ideally need a seat in an LMP1 category car, and with Toyota seemingly the only manufacturer running next year, he would need to get his way into one of the seats. however with the rumours of his visit to Toyota and what could be a subsequent test, he seems to be edging closer to the second of the three parts of the triple crown.
