Aston Martin has reacted positively to Liberty Media's plans for Formula 1's future, with CEO Andy Palmer stating that the British manufacturer is "extremely pleased". Aston Martin is currently in a title sponsorship deal with energy-drink team Red Bull.
However, there have been rumours for many months that the company is eyeing a move to supply Red Bull with engines in the future. Palmer admitted that having seen Liberty's plans, Aston Martin has moved closer to upping its involvement in the sport.
"We are extremely pleased to hear today’s news regarding the future of Formula 1," he said on Twitter. These prospective changes support many of the requirements needed for Aston Martin to enter the sport as an engine supplier. This is a very positive step in the right direction."
Former Grand Prix driver Marc Surer also had good things to say about Liberty's ideas: "The message from Liberty Media is clear: 'We are your friend, not your enemy. ' My first impression is that this is a step in the right direction," he told Speed Week.
