Ferrari: "No racing for Daniil Kvyat in 2018"

Ferrari is keeping Daniil Kvyat so busy he has no time to race elsewhere. That is despite the fact that, since he was snapped up by the Italian team following his Red Bull ousting, the Russian driver has had a very low profile.

But he's apparently been working hard in the Ferrari simulator, and this week he will make his debut in one of the Maranello team's F1 cars for a Pirelli tyre test at Fiorano. Asked if Ferrari will let Kvyat race in another series in 2018, a spokesman told Russia's Championat: "At the moment he is completely concentrated on his work in the simulator." (GMM)

Daniil, gettin paid to play video games, settin up the sim. Not takin no sh$t from HM.

Safest place for him and others anyway. Bet that reset button gets the most use.

Agreed ... I'm sure Ferrari need him there, not racing in F1, and if he is that busy ... maybe used for WEC as well.

  • Was going to make a "soup nazi" joke here but it doesn't translate to well if you change "soup" into "race.

Did you mean ? ... "NO SUIT (seat) FOR YOU !!! NEXT !" ... it loses a lot in translation.

  • Ferrari is so good at taking care of their young drivers... just look at how many of the young guns from their academy have made it to be Ferrari drivers...

    • Yeah, but very few do that from the various divisions. Red Bull is sorta an exception to the rule, and Honda used to get a few to F1 every now and then (otherwise they end up in Super Formula or Super GT). Nissan also tend to be good to their jr drivers, but they aint exactly involved in F1...Yet at least. Mind, I dont think the Renault-Nissan concern is interested in having 2 bigtime F1 projects ongoing at the same time. Point is: being a jr driver for any of the big brands is really no guarantee of getting a seat in their primary series.

  • Statistically speaking, this news could signal the turnaround of Max Verstappen's 2018 season, by the way.

Stats ? I can feed you stats to make you think anything I want. If you look at the whole picture, Max is still controlled by his daddy,Jos, and Dr. Helmuttonhead. Christian Horner was always in Dani Ric's corner and has the final say of Number 1 and 2 drivers. Another Max meltdown could send him on the Daniil Kvyat path.
