They may not be on the grid, but there will be 'girls' in Austria this weekend. Dietrich Mateschitz, the Red Bull magnate and owner of the venue of this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix, is no fan of Liberty Media's decision to ban grid girls.
"An incredible puppet show," he blasted, speaking to Kronen newspaper. "Formula one has more important things to do than debate grid girls."
Beautiful women have been a key part of the race at Spielberg, with the 'Formula Una' girls regularly wearing the traditional Austrian 'Dirndl' dress.
Red Bull Ring spokesman Stefan Hotschl said: "They (the Formula Una girls) will have tasks off the track in various areas."
I don't think it's a non-issue. In a vacuum it is, but we are seeing Formula 1 (and a lot of other things to be fair) being dumbed down and streamlined to be as politically correct as possible, as to not offend any of the SJW's. That is what I'm sick of, personally. Not the fact that the grid girls aren't there, but the fact that they caved to the pressure of a loud minority. And then to make it even more ridiculous, it's being sold as empowering women.
I think the loud minority is the one denouncing F1 as having caved to some mysterious group forcing them to remove grid girls.
"F1 IS A PUPPET SHOW WITHOUT GRID GIRLS"
Nah... it's a race. This is one of the more irrelevant aspects of the entire weekend. There a reason we stopped talking about this a while ago: Nobody cares.
Putting women on display has nothing to do with F1 or racing and is only important to a few sexist a-holes.
