Sebastian Vettel has been summoned to the stewards after he allegedly failed to slow sufficiently during a red flag period during the first free practice session in Austin.
The red flag was deployed to clear up stones that were distributed on the exit of Turn 10 following Charles Leclerc's venture through the gravel trap. Vettel was deemed to have not slowed enough when the red flag was thrown out and is now under investigation for potentially breaching Article 31.6 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulation.
“Car five [Vettel] failing to slow sufficiently during a red flag period in practice one at 10:40,” read a statement from the stewards.
Daniel Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon are two drivers that have received grid penalties this year after failing to slow sufficiently during red flag periods. Ricciardo's penalty came at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, while Ocon's was delivered last time out in Japan.
let s see if they find an excuse not to give the penalty...
Excuse no1: The light didn't show against the colour of his car
Excuse no2: His visor was fogged up
Excuse no3: There was an issue with the warning system
Excuse no4: There was another issue at the same time and that caused him to not spot the different issue
and ....
He drives for Ferrari so no penalty!
