Sergey Sirotkin is on the verge of signing a deal to coming Renault's third driver, GPToday.net understands.
The Russian driver made his debut with Williams last year, but endured a tough season as the Grove squad was the slowest team in the field. Sirotkin ended his rookie campaign in last place, but was hopeful of a second season with the team.
However, Williams opted to promote its development driver Robert Kubica in his place, alongside rookie George Russell. Now, sources have informed GPToday.net that Renault is close to signing a deal that will see him become the Enstone squad's third driver.
Sirotkin was a part of the Renault team as a development driver in 2016 and 2017.
Renault did not want to comment on the situation.
