Vietnam has officially begun construction of the street circuit that will host a Formula 1 Grand Prix in 2020.
F1 confirmed in November of last year that Vietnam would join the calendar in 2020, with a street track being built through its capital Hanoi.
The circuit will run through parts of the city that are already built up, however there are some grass and swamp areas that need to be discarded of and developed for the circuit.
“This major event will give to Vietnam - and particularly its capital - an international exposure,” FIA President Jean Todt said at a ceremony to lay the foundation stone of the circuit.
“I look forward to seeing you in a year’s time on the starting grid of the first Formula 1 Vietnamese Grand Prix in Hanoi."
The track is set to be completed by March next year.

Yes, powerhungry is the word. But it kinda looks okay, looks way better than the proposed new U.S street track did at least (again, why not on Indianapolis, Watkin's Glen or Laguna Seca? Why Blue Ball us on all these great tracks?).
