Nyck de Vries is working with Mercedes in a simulator role this year, Mercedes has confirmed to GPToday.net.
De Vries, who worked with McLaren for a number of years, was dropped from its junior line up at the end of the 2018 season.
The Dutchman is currently taking part in his third Formula 2 season, winning Friday's Feature Race at Monaco - his second victory of the year.
During the Jumbo Race Days at the Zandvoort circuit last week, de Vries avoided questions linking him to a position within the Mercedes F1 camp.
De Vries was also reluctant to answer questions in Monaco when the rumours of his new role were brought to him.
However, a Mercedes spokesperson confirmed to GPToday.net: "He is one of our group of sim drivers yes. But we don’t talk about them in public all too much."
After seven races of the FIA Formula 2 championship, de Vries holds second place in the drivers' championship, one point behind leader Nicholas Latifi.
The 24-year-old's victory in Monaco on Friday marked his second consecutive F2 win, as he also took the chequered flag two weeks ago at the Barcelona Sprint Race.
