Sergio Perez says he almost ran over a marshal while exiting the pit lane during the Monaco Grand Prix.
Perez was coming out of the pit lane after his Racing Point team fitted him with hard tyres. The Mexican was forced to jump on the brakes as two marshals were on the track during the safety car period.
"During the Safety Car I had a marshal nearly run into me,” said Perez. “I nearly ran over two marshals.
“That was really bad. They were just running back and I was coming out of the pits. I had to brake and they were very lucky that I avoided them.
“They’re [marshals] normally very good. It’s obviously safety, at the end of the day it’s most important the safety for the marshals and drivers.”
Perez frantically questioned if the marshals were okay after the incident occurred, stating that "I nearly killed him" to his team.
Perez ended the race in P13, but has been called to the Stewards after Kevin Magnussen cut the chicane while they both battled for position during the race.
