For the second time this season, Pierre Gasly set the fastest lap of a Grand Prix, picking up the extra point on offer.
Gasly started the Monaco race from eighth on the grid after picking up a three-place grid penalty for impeding Romain Grosjean during qualifying. However, he soon worked his way up to P5 behind front runners.
On lap 63, the Frenchman opted to switch to the soft compound to go for the fastest lap, and was successful in doing so as he clocked a 1:14.279, taking home an extra point for himself and Red Bull.

I've seen people le be complimentary of Gasly's race. I guess setting a really low positions you for high rating scores if you have a decent race. While Max was fighting for victory, Pierre was not even close to Ferrari. Racing alone most of the race.. Probably planning on doing the fastest lap since there was no way in hell he would catch Seb, even as Lewis was driving really slow

I'm personally a bit unconvinced about him still. Anyone can do a fastest lap late on provided they get the right tyres and have some degree of oompf, and even when not taking that last stop for fresh softs into account, he is still too far behind Max.

It's a bit interesting how RBH is catching Ferrari in terms of points.
