Dean Stoneman will be the latest high-profile European single seater export to test an IndyCar this year when he samples an Andretti-run Honda car at Watkins Glen next month.
The former Formula Two champion and GP3 runner up has been contesting the Indy Lights series this year and currently sits third in the championship with five races remaining.
"I have been watching the big guys all season so I'm going to enjoy finally testing one," Stoneman told RACER. "I came to Indy Lights with a view of moving up to IndyCar, which has always been the goal that I'm working on for 2017, so the test will give everybody some indication of my ability.
"In 2010 I was invited to test Williams F1 car in Abu Dhabi and seemed to really impress everyone, so I'm hoping we can do the same sort of job with Andretti as I look to next year," he added.
Stoneman's motorsport career went on hold not long after his Formula One test six years ago when he was diagnosed with Testicular cancer.
Since recovering, he has gone on to have successful runs in the Porsche Carerra Cup GB, Formula Renault 3.5, GP3, and Indy Lights as well as winning the P1 SuperStock UK powerboat championship
